Thomas Perfect Against Cubs
Sunday, January 7th , 2046
Philadelphia (WIN) Phillies starter Brian Thomas was as good as a pitcher can be today, as he hurled a perfect game against the Chicago (WIN) Cubs.
In doing so, Thomas accomplished one of the most difficult feats in baseball and one that will put his name in the record books.
"I can tell you I've dreamed about a day like this," Thomas told the press after the game. "Now that I've done it, the feeling is even better."
In his splendid 6-0 victory at Sloan Park, Thomas yielded no hits, walked none and had 16 strikeouts. In the historic outing he retired 27 successive batters.
So far this year Thomas has made 8 starts, tossed 45.2 innings, struck out 61 batters and walked 11. His record is 4-1 with a 4.53 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .224 batting average.
