Bruins Get Zilch in 3-0 Loss to Owls, Wellman Thursday, October 11th , 2046 It wasn't easy but the Rice University Owls made it look that way. Starter Killian Wellman shut out the UCLA Bruins despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Rice University Owls cruised to victory, 3-0. Wellman allowed only 5 hits and rang up 10 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win. "It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up." This season Wellman has been credited with no saves. In 10 relief appearances and 30.1 innings he has a 3-1 won-lost mark, 2.67 ERA and 36 strikeouts |
