Gordon Jing Hurls No-No Against Chester
Saturday, August 25th , 2046
Gordon Jing really did a number on the Chester Pirates at Chester Ballpark today -- and that number was zero.
The Niagara Falls Phantoms hurler had what he later called "one of the best moments of my life," tossing a no-hitter and leading the Phantoms to victory, 12-0.
"This is something special," Jing said. "I knew from the fifth inning that I had a no-hitter working. I tried to get it out of my mind, but you just can't. They have too many scoreboards in the park. They're everywhere you look."
The left-hander faced only 28 batters in the no-hit gem, struck out 14 and walked 1.
"We simply couldn't get any wood on the ball," Chester manager Chris Peterson said when asked about the epic performance. "Jing was brilliant out there. He certainly had our number."
Thus far this season Jing has posted a 4-9 record, started 19 games, struck out 122 batters in 108 innings and compiled a 6.08 ERA.
