Yeary No-Hits Nationals
Saturday, August 25th , 2046
The Oakland Oaks were just hoping for a solid outing from Cory Yeary. Instead, they got something special.
The 20-year-old hurler tossed a no-hitter against the Palm Beach Nationals, helping the Oaks take the 16-0 win.
"I felt good throughout the game," he said after his spectacular outing for the Oaks. "As I was going into the ninth inning, I wasn't nervous. I knew I had a chance to do something special."
Yeary's repertoire has a changeup, fastball, circle change, and slider, and he used it all to full advantage, keeping the Palm Beach hitters off balance all game long. The Oakland hurler fanned 12 and walked 6 in his history-making performance.
"His changeup looked about the size of a watermelon seed and it hissed at you as it passed," Palm Beach manager Clancy Wilkins joked after the game.
This season Yeary has a 10-0 record with a 1.82 ERA in 16 starts.
