Zero Hour: Painter Blanks Devils
Monday, September 17th , 2046
It wasn't easy but the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs made it look that way.
Starter Craig Painter shut out the New Jersey Devils despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs cruised to victory, 17-0. Painter allowed only 3 hits and rang up 15 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
So far this season Painter has compiled a 7-6 record with a 3.07 ERA.
