Sandoval Swats 3 Homers
Saturday, September 29th , 2046
Julio Sandoval went on an explosive hitting spree against the New Jersey Devils at Stoney Creek Stadium today, launching a trio of blasts to lead the Hamilton Cardinals to the 15-2 win.
The catcher finished 3-for-5 with 3 runs scored and 4 runs batted in.
"It was just one of those days," Sandoval said in a postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball."
New Jersey skipper Adrian Sapien said Sandoval was "locked-in."
"We made some pretty good pitches," he said. "Those first two homers were exactly where the pitcher wanted to put them. He's just hot right now -- you've just got to tip your hat to him."
Julio Sandoval hit a two-run home run off Pedro Botello in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Pedro Botello in the 4th, flied out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Antonio Davila in the 6th and struck out in the 7th.
This year Sandoval has collected a .366 batting average to date with 94 hits in 257 at-bats, 118 RBIs, 51 home runs and scored 89 times. He has played in 73 games.
