Etienne Verburg Hurls No-No Against Oregon State University Friday, August 31st , 2046 University of Maine Black Bears starter Etienne Verburg came up big today at Goss Stadium with an exceptional 6-0 outing against the Oregon State University Beavers. Not only did he whip them, but Verburg held them hitless, too. "My arm was a bit sore in warmups," confessed Verburg. "Sometimes you go out there and you're not feeling all that hot. You get into the game and all of a sudden in the seventh inning you look up and see the scoreboard and think to yourself, 'Oh, my goodness, I have a no-hitter!' You're so focused on what you're doing, it just happens." In the course of the no-hitter, Verburg collected 8 strikeouts and surrendered 1 walk -- a day good enough to get his name in the history books. |
