Abernethy Spectacular in 2-0 Win Tuesday, October 23rd , 2046 In an excellent mound performance, Sherwood Abernethy of the University of Conneticut Huskies whitewashed the Mississippi State University Bulldogs 2-0 on a 3-hitter. "I had my best stuff and did a good job of mixing up my pitches," he said after the game. In all, the University of Conneticut hurler rang up 9 strikeouts and 2 walks in the shutout win. "We just didn't swing the bats well today," said Bulldogs manager Edgar Alfonzo. "Abernethy did a good job keeping us guessing." This season Abernethy has made 7 relief appearances, recorded no saves and compiled a 5-9 won-lost mark and a 1.76 ERA. In pitching 107.1 innings, he has totaled 109 strikeouts and 28 walks. |
