Strachan Bangs Out 5 Base Hits
|
There are moments in a player's career that they will not soon forget.
Joe Strachan of the Pennsylvania State University Nittany Lions had one such moment at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park today, when he went 5 for 5 at the plate. His hitting heroics weren't enough to pull out the victory, however, and Pennsylvania State University fell to a 6-4 defeat to the Ohio State University Buckeyes.
"This was quite a day for me individually, but a little disheartening at the same time," the 17-year-old second baseman told reporters in the postgame interview. "It would have been very special if we had won the game."
Joe Strachan hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, tripled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
Strachan currently has a .464 batting average with 13 hits, 2 homers, 5 RBIs, 6 runs scored and a .500 OBP.
