Even as a kid, Ricardo Sandoval said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At The Big Americus Stadium today, Sandoval showed how well he learned that lesson.
The 18-year-old center fielder had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the Americus Braves, helping his team knock off the Joplin Blasters by a score of 13-4.
"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did today."
Ricardo Sandoval hit an RBI triple in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
Sandoval is currently hitting at a .429 pace with 8 home runs and 22 RBIs.
