Brown Big Deal in Oakland: Hits for Cycle
|
Getting 4 hits is a good day by any measure, but when those include a single, double, triple and a home run -- that's something special. Amare Brown's day was a special one.
The third baseman hit for the cycle to spark the Oakland Oaks to a 12-8 victory over the Kelowna Heat at Andrew Wray Stadium today. Oakland manager Matt Orlando said he thought the whole lineup looked good in batting practice, but had not been expecting anything extraordinary from Brown in particular.
"Amare caught me by surprise today," the skipper said. "He looked good before the game, but man, he looked unbelievable during it."
For the day, Brown finished with 4 runs batted in and 3 runs scored to go with his 4 hits.
Amare Brown singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, walked in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Justin Tidwell in the 8th, hit a three-run triple in the 9th and grounded out in the 11th.
This season Brown is hitting .202 with 11 home runs.
