Michener 5-for-6 for Lansing
|
Getting 5 hits in a game has always been memorable feat in baseball. In the Lansing's 30-1 win over Lexington today, first baseman John Michener was red-hot, scorching them for hit after hit at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.
"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax," Michener said afterward. "I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I have to admit, I got a little tight when I realized I had a chance for five. On the last at-bat, I was ready to swing at anything close."
John Michener hit an RBI single in the 2nd, was hit by a pitch in the 3rd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Marcus Kressley in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th, singled in the 8th and doubled in the 9th.
This season Michener has delivered 30 hits in 81 at-bats for a .370 average with 4 home runs. He is getting on base at a .433 clip and his totals also include 19 RBIs and 20 runs scored. This year Michener has played in 24 games.
