Jackson 2B Downs Suspended Sunday, June 30th , 2047 Zach Downs, second baseman for the Jackson Generals, will be getting a few days off the hard way -- a 3-game suspension for aggressively arguing with an umpire in a recent game with Bowie. After being called out on strikes, Downs stood toe-to-toe with the home plate umpire and hotly contested the call. Apparently he got too close to the arbiter and was ejected from the game, allegedly making contact with the bill of his cap. "I don't remember billing him. I don't remember doing that," Downs told BNN today. To date, Downs has collected 37 hits for a .210 average. He has posted 4 home runs, scored 16 runs and driven in 14 runs. |
