Velazquez, Braves Shut Out Fireflies, 7-0 Tuesday, September 24th , 2047 Orlando Velazquez had an impressive outing at Trustmark Park today, hurling the Mississippi Braves to a 7-0 shutout victory over the Columbia Fireflies. "He threw strikes and he was always around the plate," Columbia skipper Matt Tomshaw said. "The ball was doing everything he wanted it to do. We hit some balls hard, but they were all right at the fielders." On the day, the right-handed Velazquez yielded 1 hit and tallied 9 strikeouts with 1 walk. To date Velazquez is 8-11 in 31 starts with a 3.97 ERA and has 180 strikeouts in 188.1 innings. |
