Ken Vandercook of the Montgomery Biscuits was in command and couldn't do much wrong when he was on the mound this season. His outstanding 12-7 won-lost mark and 2.18 ERA were big factors in his winning the 2047 American League Outstanding Pitcher Award.

In 189.2 innings of work and 29 starts, Vandercook struck out 169 while giving up 147 hits and 30 walks. He held opposing batters to a .209 average.

He received 30 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Jesus Moreno of the Midland RockHounds finished second in voting, while Dan Korte of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats finished third.
