St. Lucie Stops Whitenack's Hit Streak
Saturday, January 5th , 2047
The Mets stopped Kevin Whitenack's 21-game hitting streak today at G. Richard Pfitzner Stadium, but they couldn't stop the Potomac Nationals, falling by the score of 6-2.
Whitenack didn't get a hit for the first time in weeks, finishing 0-for-4.
"It's just as well," Nationals manager Greg Garcia said. "We couldn't spend the whole season going out of our way not to jinx him."
For the season, Whitenack is hitting at a .328 clip with 4 home runs, 22 RBIs and has scored 24 runs. He has 42 hits, 19 walks and a .421 on-base percentage.
