Batten Fires Perfect Game
Monday, June 24th , 2047
Fans at Fifth Third Field today were the lucky witnesses to a feat so rare, so spectacular, that it is certain to go down in the annals of baseball history. Kane County Cougars starter pitched nine unblemished innings for a perfect game against the Dayton Dragons.
The Kane County hurler struck out 8 and walked none while making history, defeating Dayton 2-0. He sat down 27 batters in order.
After a game like that, Batten would have been forgiven for going a little wild, but the 35-year-old was the picture of calm as he sat with reporters after the game.
"I'm thrilled," he said. "This is a dream come true."
In 14 starts this season Batten has chalked up a 4-4 record and a 2.96 ERA.
