Cordero Sparkles in 5-0 Whitewash of Greenville Friday, June 28th , 2047 The Greenville Drive had no answer today for Lansing Lugnuts pitcher William Cordero. They failed to score a single run against him, losing 5-0. Greenville managed only 4 hits off Cordero, who had 6 strikeouts. The extraordinarily popular Cordero got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd. "Lugnuts fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible." So far this season Cordero has a 9-2 record with a 1.88 ERA. |
