Lara Tags Cubs for 5 Hits Sunday, July 14th , 2047 The South Bend Cubs might think twice next time about pitching to Jose Lara. At Four Winds Field at Coveleski Stadium today, the Binghamton Mets reliever burned South Bend pitching, going 5-for-6 in a 15-0 Binghamton triumph. "When he's on his game," Binghamton skipper George Pinkard told reporters, "he can probably stroke a base hit blindfolded." Jose Lara flied out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, walked in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th. This season Lara has made 12 relief appearances with 4 saves. His won-lost record is 2-1 with a 3.29 ERA. |
