Raker Goes 5-for-5
Thursday, August 22nd , 2047
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Jason Raker, it came around today.
The 20-year-old left fielder scattered hits all over Neuroscience Feild at Fox Cities Stadium to pace the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers to a 13-8 victory over the South Bend Cubs.
South Bend skipper Akil Baddoo told reporters in the press room that "Raker deserves a hat-tip."
"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Raker hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."
Jason Raker hit a two-run double in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, tripled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th and singled in the 7th.
Raker is batting .327 with 4 home runs and 48 RBIs this season.
