Mendoza Rips South Bend for 6 Hits Friday, September 20th , 2047 Chad Mendoza exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark. The Kane County first baseman had a field day in the 25-0 triumph over the South Bend Cubs, finishing 6-for-6. "My hitting philosophy is simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch." Mendoza must have focused at least 6 times and apparently got some good pitches, too, leading to one of his best days ever with the bat. Chad Mendoza singled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Josh Deyo in the 3rd, hit a three-run double in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 8th and hit a GRAND SLAM off Victor Ramirez in the 8th. This season Mendoza is swinging the bat at a .357 rate with 175 hits in 490 at-bats. To date he has hit 21 home runs, scored 76 runs and driven in 99. |
