Peoria 2047 World Series Champions
Tuesday, November 12th , 2047
A celebratory mood filled the air as the Peoria Chiefs closed out the season with a 5-4 victory over the Kannapolis Intimidators at Dozer Park to capture the World Series, 4-3.
Giving the Intimidators credit for a hard-fought series, Chiefs players said they believed throughout the postseason that their "destiny" was to be crowned Midwest League champions.
"We felt like this was our year all season long," said left fielder Tommy Boudreaux, who was named series MVP. "It was our destiny to win it and we did."
It was the 1st in franchise history. During the National League Central Division regular season Peoria put up a 104-46 record and finished first.
"They're the champions and they deserve it," said a dejected Kannapolis manager Ashton Upchurch. "We played good ball, they just played better than us."
