5-Hit Barrage by McLane
Tuesday, May 14th , 2047
After a 5-hit effort to lead Auburn's 6-5 victory over the Hillsboro Hops, right fielder Vince McLane told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the New York-Penn League-level is really something special."
The 23-year-old player earned his accolades today at Falcon Park with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Hops.
"His swing is getting there," said Doubledays skipper Grant Reuss, who spoke glowingly of McLane after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Vince did that to perfection today."
Vince McLane singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 7th.
Thus far this year McLane has hit .353 with no home runs and 3 RBIs.
