Spikes Ramirez Gets No-Hitter
Thursday, July 18th , 2047
The State College Spikes relied on no-hit stuff from starter Juan Ramirez to defeat the Cincinnati (NYP) Reds 11-0 at Baseball City Complex today.
"It's quite a thrill," Ramirez told the media afterward. "This is a top-notch league. A no-hitter against any team in the league is something special. I can't believe I did it."
To get his name logged in the National League records, he stopped Cincinnati (NYP) cold and hitless, surrendering 3 walks and fanning 16 of the 30 batters he faced.
State College manager Alex Schmidt was in a jovial mode after the game, kidding with reporters that Ramirez "made managing easy today."
"I didn't have hardly any decisions to make like I usually do," he said. "I didn't even have to come up with a pinch hitter."
In 9 starts this season Ramirez has registered a 4-3 record and a 3.20 ERA.
