Dodgers LaPlante Has 16 Ks Friday, August 9th , 2047 Led by an outstanding performance from starter Terry LaPlante, the Los Angeles (NYP) Dodgers topped the State College Spikes today by a score of 13-1 at Las Palmas Complex. The 26-year-old LaPlante brought his top game to the mound, striking out 16 batters while allowing 6 hits and giving up no walks. "He made a lot of good pitches out there," Spikes manager Alex Schmidt said. "He made some of our guys look bad. We didn't help matters, but we really have to give him credit -- he didn't make many mistakes." For the year LaPlante has no relief appearances and a 12-3 record with no saves. He has logged 127.2 innings and allowed 85 base hits. Opposing clubs have put up a .187 batting average against him. LaPlante has rung up 162 strikeouts, surrendered 24 walks and fashioned a 2.68 ERA. |
