3-Homer Hat Trick for Pujols
Friday, August 2nd , 2047
Seattle (APP) Mariners third baseman Danny Pujols almost did it all today. He sent three shots out of the ballpark, scored 3 times and drove in 4 runs and had 3 hits in 4 at-bats.
The one thing he could not do, however, was lead the Mariners to victory. The Princeton Rays escaped with the 11-10 win by the Princeton despite being on the receiving end of the barrage from Pujols.
"I'd be lying if I said I didn't like hitting three homers, but losing takes a little glitter off the game," he admitted to BNN writers after the game.
Danny Pujols hit a two-run home run off Tung-chi Tian in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Tung-chi Tian in the 5th, struck out in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Marc Furr in the 9th.
"When someone hits three home runs, you put yourself in a tough position to win," said Seattle (APP) manager Greg Thorpe. "We were lucky to win this one. I don't think it matters how hard you throw, especially in the American League. If you leave a ball out over the plate to good Appalachian League hitters, if they get a bead on you and you leave it over the middle, they're probably going to take a good hack at it."
Looking at his stats this year, Pujols has compiled a .339 batting average, while hitting 18 home runs and driving in 43 runs. He has played in 44 games and scored 28 runs.
