Red-Hot Bat: Herrera Collects Cycle
Friday, September 27th , 2047
Reynaldo Herrera of the Cleveland (APP) Indians touched all the bases today at Cleveland Indians Complex in the 9-0 victory over Detroit (APP), hitting for the cycle.

He teed off on Tigers pitching, collecting 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run. The feat is rare in baseball as it requires a game of no fewer than four hits and the unusual combination of a home run, which requires a batter to hit for some power -- and a triple, which requires a batter to have both speed and a favorable fall of the ball.

"The hardest part was the triple," Herrera confessed after the game. "A lot has to go right. It's real easy to get greedy trying to stretch a double and get thrown out. It's really hard to get a three-bagger."

He finished the big day with 4 hits in 4 at-bats, 3 RBI, 3 runs scored -- and a place in the record books.

Reynaldo Herrera tripled in the 1st, was hit by a pitch in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Jim Belcher in the 6th and doubled in the 8th.

This year Herrera has socked 45 hits in 121 at-bats for a .372 average with 14 home runs. He is getting on base at a .539 pace and his totals also include 49 RBIs and 55 runs scored.
