Four-bagger Feast: Mercer Slugs 3 for Bluefield
Friday, October 4th , 2047
The "hardest feat in sports" debate is a never-ending one with no correct answer, but hitting three home runs is certainly in the conversation. That's exactly what Norm Mercer did today at Mariners Complex, going deep three times and carrying his team to victory, 27-1.
"It all came together. I was seeing the ball well and I got some good pitches to hit," Mercer said. "Good things happen, when that happens."
The Bluefield Blue Jays second baseman blistered the Seattle (APP) Mariners for 3 hits, batted in 4 runs and scored 3 times.
"It ain't like we weren't trying," Seattle (APP) manager Greg Thorpe said. "He was hot and really torched my boys today."
Norm Mercer hit a two-run home run off David Reyes in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off David Reyes in the 3rd, walked in the 4th and hit a solo-shot off Perry Renouf in the 5th.
This year Mercer is batting .279 with 31 home runs.
