League Gets Last Word, Suspends Shavkunov 4 Games Wednesday, October 16th , 2047 Artyom Shavkunov has been penalized by the commissioner's office for his verbal and physical assault of an umpire. The catcher unleashed his fury in protesting a third-strike call in yesterday's Kingsport-Miami (APP) game at Academia de Prospecto Complex. And now he has to pay for it -- Shavkunov has been suspended for 4 games for his unacceptable actions. The commissioner said in his statement that the league would have zero tolerance for any contact with an umpire, unintentional or otherwise. Shavkunov is hitting .273 this year with 5 home runs and 26 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .340, 20 walks and scored 31 times. |
