He may have less experience than most of his Appalachian League peers, but that didn't slow Josiah Wright down at all in 2047.

At the age of 23, the Great Falls second baseman has been named the winner of the American League Most Valuable Player Award.

He had a .351 batting average and a .490 on-base percentage this year. In 141 games he piled up 185 hits, 34 doubles, 11 triples, 53 home runs, 144 RBIs and 192 runs scored.

"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."

He received 19 first place votes out of a possible 30. Jonathan Mendoza of the Baltimore (APP) Orioles finished second in voting with 4 first place votes, while David Sharp of the Oakland (APP) Athletics finished third with 3 first place votes.
