Cougars End Gates's Streak

The 20-game hitting streak of Steve Gates has come to an end. The Clemson University Tigers center fielder went 0-for-4 today in his team's 10-4 loss to the Washington State University Cougars at Bailey-Brayton Field.
"It's not just Steve who came up short today," Tigers manager Bryant Hayman said in his postgame press conference. "This was a team loss."
During the current season Gates is batting at a .251 clip with 7 home runs and 25 RBIs. He has played in 96 games and scored 44 times.
