Helmer and MacKenzie Fight, Get Suspended Sunday, May 19th , 2047 Yesterday at Oakland Oaks Grounds Bill Helmer and Brice MacKenzie got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Oakland Oaks and Calgary Flames. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Helmer will have to sit out 5 while MacKenzie would be given a 10-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. Looking at his stats this year, Helmer has compiled a .087 batting average, while hitting no home runs and driving in 2 runs. He has played in 9 games and scored 1 run. |
