Houston Dazed, Washington Gets No-Hitter
Monday, July 15th , 2047
Victoria Capitals starter Devon Washington came up big today at Colt .45's Stadium with an exceptional 3-0 outing against the Houston Colt .45's. Not only did he whip them, but Washington held them hitless, too.
"My arm was a bit sore in warmups," confessed Washington. "Sometimes you go out there and you're not feeling all that hot. You get into the game and all of a sudden in the seventh inning you look up and see the scoreboard and think to yourself, 'Oh, my goodness, I have a no-hitter!' You're so focused on what you're doing, it just happens."
In the course of the no-hitter, Washington collected 12 strikeouts and surrendered 2 walks -- a day good enough to get his name in the history books.
This year Washington has a 8-1 mark in 13 starts with a 1.61 ERA. He has given up 43 hits in 78.1 innings, struck out 103 and issued 18 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .161 batting average against him.
