Brewers Shut Out Marlins, 4-0
|
Milwaukee took on Miami in front of a lively crowd.
Travis Southern never let Miami get something going. The Milwaukee right-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Brewers to a 4-0 win. The winning pitcher was Southern, now 4-4. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7.
The Brewers got a big at-bat from first baseman Dave Gonzalez. For the game, Gonzalez was 1-2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Milwaukee a 4-0 lead.
"We take it day by day here," said Southern, "and today was a good one for us."
Miami has now lost 4 consecutive games.
