Mets Win Thriller, 2-1
|
The New York Mets got a magnificent performance from pitcher Matt Laverty, who muffled the San Francisco offense en route to a tight 2-1 Mets win at Citi Field. New York reliever Chris Thurner got the win, raising his record to 2-2. Alex Montes was tagged with the loss. With the win, New York pushed its record to 28-21.
The Mets procured the win, in large part because of left fielder Antonio Aranda. In the bottom of the 11th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring double.
"I felt we were ready to go," said New York manager Rabdix Double Dip. "Our pregame was pretty good."
