No-Hit Masterpiece by Salcido
|
Atlanta (MID) Braves starter Carlos Salcido came up big today at Appalachian Power Park with an exceptional 1-0 outing against the West Virginia Power. Not only did he whip them, but Salcido held them hitless, too.
"My arm was a bit sore in warmups," confessed Salcido. "Sometimes you go out there and you're not feeling all that hot. You get into the game and all of a sudden in the seventh inning you look up and see the scoreboard and think to yourself, 'Oh, my goodness, I have a no-hitter!' You're so focused on what you're doing, it just happens."
In the course of the no-hitter, Salcido collected 11 strikeouts and surrendered 4 walks -- a day good enough to get his name in the history books.
On the season Salcido has delivered 0 saves in no relief appearances. He has 82 strikeouts in 74 innings with a 1.46 ERA and a 9-0 mark.
