Braves Spill Giants, 5-3
|
Atlanta pitcher Casey Jones did his part in helping his team beat the San Francisco Giants, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Jones went 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. His record improves to 4-5. The save was credited to Victor Munoz, his 10th.
In the bottom of the ninth, Tyler Mapes stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Giants were trailing 5-3, but had runners on 1st and 2nd. That's when Victor Munoz made a terrific pitch and Mapes flied out. Gone was the dream of a San Francisco comeback.
The second-place Giants have lost 4 straight games.
