The St. Louis Cardinals weathered a fine game by Milwaukee third baseman Ryan Neal to upend the Brewers, 8-7, at Busch Stadium. Neal went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. St. Louis reliever Derek White got the win, raising his record to 4-1. John Owens was tagged with the loss. The Cardinals saw their win-loss record go to 31-33. At the same time, the Brewers fell to 33-29.

Jason Kirby was the walk-off hero for St. Louis. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Cardinals designated hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said St. Louis manager Jeff Jones Jr..
