Athletics Lose By a Run at Houston, 4-3
|
The Houston Astros had to overcome a big game from Oakland designated hitter Tommy Baird to leave Minute Maid Park with a victory. And they did, winning 4-3. Baird was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Houston starter Mat Pear was credited with the win after throwing 104 pitches over 7 innings. His record now stands at 6-3. Today's win puts Houston at 30-38, while Oakland falls to 34-36.
Bryce Hill took Joe Bradford deep in the bottom of the seventh. His 2-run home run put the Astros on top, 4-3. In all, Hill had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Oakland manager Daryl S. Oakland said following the tough loss.
