Streaking Angels Win Another One, 5-4
The California Angels overcame a good performance by Texas designated hitter Butch Kaiser to knock off Texas, 5-4, at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Kaiser was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Gus Morante, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 4 runs on 4 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 8. His record now stands at 7-3. California has a 6-game win streak, while Texas has lost 3 in a row.

Had Ruben Velasco not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Velasco hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Angels.

"I'm not out here to win a beauty contest," said Velasco. "Obviously."
