Beaumond Strokes 5 Hits
After a 5-hit effort to lead Helena's 28-0 victory over the Chicago (APP) Cubs, third baseman Tony Beaumond told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Appalachian League-level is really something special."

The 21-year-old player earned his accolades today at Baseball City Complex with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Cubs.

"His swing is getting there," said Brewers skipper Bret Montgomery, who spoke glowingly of Beaumond after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Tony did that to perfection today."

Tony Beaumond hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, hit a two-run triple in the 5th, walked in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.

So far this season Beaumond is batting .320 with 13 home runs, 60 RBIs and 51 runs scored. He has 62 hits in 194 at-bats, 32 walks and a .416 OBP. Beaumond has played in 50 games.
