White Sox Wax Guardians, 14-0
|
The Chicago White Sox had no problem beating the Cleveland Guardians, 14-0, at U.S. Cellular Field. Alfie Bungledorf led the way. He was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 4 for Chicago. Kevin Woods, the winner, goes to 3-2. He allowed no runs on 6 hits, with no walks and 7 strikeouts over 6 innings. The triumph puts Chicago at 39-33 for the season.
With Chicago leading 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Bungledorf hit a fastball from Ben Cole for a grand slam home run. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the White Sox ahead, 5-0.
Said losing manager Bersha Nainco: "Give the White Sox credit. They took advantage of our mistakes."
