Despite a great performance by Kansas City center fielder Pete Hansel, the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Royals by the score of 5-4 at Busch Stadium. Hansel was 2 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs. The win belongs to Josh Sandoval in relief. His record improves to 2-1. David Silva took the loss for Kansas City. Bryan Banana collected save number 17.
Antoine Roux took David Silva deep in the bottom of the eighth. His 2-run home run put the Cardinals on top, 5-4. In all, Roux had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
