Reds Come Up Short at St. Louis, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Cincinnati Reds, Danny Rivera was the difference-maker. The St. Louis left-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. In 7.1 innings, Rivera surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. With the win, the Cardinals improved to 37-39.
Early in the game, first baseman Armando Carbajal had a bases-clearing double for St. Louis. It was his 14th double of the season and put the Cardinals on top, 3-1.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Cincinnati manager Jimmy Silveira II. "But we decided not to take it."
