Phillies Win, 9-7, at Pittsburgh
|
The Philadelphia Phillies powered past the Pittsburgh Pirates, 9-7, at PNC Park. Nick Canizales went 2 for 5 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once, to lead the charge. James Woods Jr., the winning pitcher, is now 5-10. He went 8.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits, while fanning 5 and walking 1. The Phillies sport a record of 35-52.
With Philadelphia leading 2-1 in the top of the fourth, Canizales hit a curveball from Josh Markham for a grand slam home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Phillies ahead, 6-1.
"We got the victory," said Canizales. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
