Guardians Bridle Brewers, 2-0
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Cleveland Guardians and the Milwaukee Brewers, pitcher Drew Rickelman was the difference between victory and defeat. The Cleveland right-hander earned accolades in the 2-0 Guardians win. Rickelman, now 3-1, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 6, walking 7, and allowing no runs. The Guardians saw their win-loss record go to 39-55. At the same time, the Brewers fell to 44-48.
The Guardians got a big at-bat from center fielder Pete Barutha. For the game, Barutha was 1 for 3 with a home run. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 15th home run of the season gave Cleveland a 1-0 lead.
Rickelman said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
