Blue Jays Snatch Late Win
|
Toronto and Baltimore took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
The Toronto Blue Jays topped the Baltimore Orioles, 5-3, with youngster Donny Burnside playing a key role. Burnside went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Blue Jays in the win. Chase Schlong earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 1-2. Zach Ault finished to wrap up his 12th save.
The game was all tied up in the top of the eighth, until Burnside delivered big-time for Toronto, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Hector Aguado. The game-changing hit put the Blue Jays on top, 4-3.
Burnside told a Toronto News reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
The Blue Jays sport a record of 64-28.
