Astros Drop Diamondbacks, 9-5
|
Fans who congregated at Chase Field were treated to extra-inning drama.
The Houston Astros weathered an outstanding game by Arizona third baseman Katilimomi Kelekolio to topple the Diamondbacks, 9-5. Kelekolio hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The Astros sit in last place in the American League West Division with a record of 38-59.
Houston used the timely hitting of Rich Chavez to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the 14th inning to put the Astros on top, 7-5. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Our team showed some gumption," said Chavez. "I like it."
