Blue Jays Beat Angels, 5-2
|
Toronto Blue Jays starter Edward Saunders was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the California Angels, 5-2. The winning pitcher was Saunders, now 11-4. He tossed 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 5 and fanning 5. Hoof Harted locked down his 8th save.
Toronto used the bat of Danny Burnside to capture the win. The first baseman jacked a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Blue Jays ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Burnside.
The first-place Blue Jays, at 76-31, now lead their division by 11½ games.
