Mariners Take Down Expos, 5-4
|
The Seattle Mariners did just enough to sneak past the Montreal Expos, 5-4, at Safeco Field. Seattle pitcher Larry Tuckfard, in particular, had a standout performance. Reliever Omar Colunga picked up the win. His record improves to 3-6. Jakub Kvacek took the loss. Seattle now sits in 4th place in the American League West Division at 56-55.
Steve Jordan was the walk-off hero for Seattle. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Mariners designated hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"If the personal accolades come, so be it," said Jordan. "I just want to win ballgames."
